The short version
YapDiary makes a copy of your voice so you can hear yourself speak. Only you can play it. You can delete it, and everything else, any time from the app.
YapDiary is for people 18 and over. If you tell us you are under 18, we don't record or copy anything.
What we collect
Your account: your email address or Sign in with Apple identifier, your name, your birth year, your languages and your settings.
Your voice: during the onboarding interview we record your microphone (only your side) to make the copy of your voice. You agree to this out loud before recording starts.
Your conversations: transcripts of your practice sessions and calls, so we can show corrections and recaps, and short facts you share (for example, why you are learning) so the app remembers you.
Purchases are handled by Apple. We see whether you have an active plan, not your payment details.
Who processes it
ElevenLabs makes and hosts the copy of your voice and runs live conversations. It doesn’t record calls and deletes call transcripts within a day.
Language models reached through OpenRouter write replies and corrections. We only use providers that keep no data and don’t train on it.
Neon stores your account and conversation data. Cloudflare runs our servers and stores audio files.
We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.
Deleting your data
Delete your voice in the app (You > My voice). We delete it at ElevenLabs and delete the audio YapDiary made for you.
Delete what YapDiary remembers, one fact at a time or all at once, from You > What YapDiary remembers.
Delete your account from You > Account. This deletes your voice, the audio YapDiary made for you, your conversations, characters and memory.
